DealDash Hosts a Kid’s Sleepover

Sleepovers can be a lot of fun. Here are some tips for having a sleepover from DealDash.

My daughter started kindergarten this year, and I am prepared for the begging for a sleepover to start rolling in. It seems to come as a right of passage as kids get older that they will eventually want to invite a friend over for a sleepover. While this can be a thrilling idea for your child it can be a scary thought for you as a parent as you want to make sure that your child’s first sleepover is a great one. Here are some tips for having a perfect sleepover.

Be a Great Host, Take it Slow

You will likely want to start out as the host for your child’s first sleepover and limit the guests to one until you get the routine of a sleepover down. That way you will see what went well and what you could have done a little better.

Delicious and Simple Food

When it comes to food keep it simple and go for kids friendly options.  You will want to inquire with the parents of your child’s guest to be sure that you are not selecting anything that they might allergic to. You definitely do not want to worry about anyone getting ill during the sleepover. If a child has a severe allergy their parents will probably mention it to you, but it’s good to ask to be on the safe side.

Lay Down the Rules

Setting up an routine is great idea for when your child has their first overnight guest. You will want to let them know what they can and cannot do. You want to make sure that they know what time to go to bed and get up to have their friend picked up in the morning or afternoon. Having a routine set will help both you and the kids know what to expect. Tantrums and meltdowns tend to happen when something unexpected happens in a child’s life.

Sit Back and Let the Fun Happen

After you have all of this planned out, just let the kids have fun. Plan activities like movie watching or board games and just let them enjoy their time together. Having a sleepover with a friend is a great way to spend some bonding time together with a special friend.

A sleepover doesn’t have to go perfectly to be fun. You will however see that after a while it will become easier to host sleepovers at your home as well as letting your child go to a sleepover at a friend’s home.
