DealDash: Family Night on a Budget

DealDash

Fun on a budget can be a little tricky sometimes. Here are some tips from DealDash for having a great family night on a budget.

When you think about having some family time it can be difficult to decide on what to do for a family night. This is especially true if you are running on a tight budget. Here are a few tips to help you plan a great family night without having to spend a great deal of cash. Read on for more information from DealDash.

Keep it Simple

You want to keep it simple when planning your family night. A fun night at home watching movies or playing games can be just as fun as going out on the town to do something. You need to focus on quality here as it is really more about spending time together than about what you have planned to do. So think of little things that you can do with your family that will create wonderful and lasting memories.

One of my family’s favorite things to do is invite over a cousin or two and have a movie night with microwaved popcorn, a sleepover, and then go out for a pancake brunch the next day. You could skip the pancakes out and make brunch at home if you’re on an extremely tight budget. All of my family’s cousins are between the ages of 1 and 9, so this can be a fun activity for everyone, as long as we pick a toddler-friendly movie. There are tons to choose from, especially if you have a service like Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime.

Talk it Out With the Family

Eliminate all worry and stress from your family night. Of course not everyone will want to do everything that is planned, but make sure that their concerns are heard. Compromises can be made so that everyone will be happy with what is planned for current and future family nights. And if there are any problems during family night they should be addressed right away so you can get back to having fun. This can be problematic if you have siblings that don’t get along very well.

Food Prep? No Prob!

Make sure that food preparation is as simple as possible. Making food can be a chore all in itself. You don’t want to be worn out before your family night even begins. Look for things that can be easily prepared and even be prepared ahead of time. This way someone in the family can easily get things put together to enjoy while you are having fun. Frozen pizzas from the grocery store along with a bagged salad can make a great quick and inexpensive meal. Combine that with a treat later on such as microwaved popcorn or chips and salsa. You’ll be all set in the food department!

It really is possible to have a wonderful family movie or game night that will not completely ruin your budget as long as you do a little research. You will be really pleased with the effort you took to plan a family night on a budget when you see the smiles on the faces  of your family enjoy a wonderful night.
