DealDash Spring Cleaning: Your Car
The weather is getting much nicer outside, so let’s take our Spring Cleaning series outside to the car. Read this article for some excellent suggestions for cleaning your car.
If you’ve been following our blog, you know that we’ve got a Spring Cleaning series going on. We’ve covered most of your house, so we thought we’d focus on another area that you spend a ton of time: your car.
A 2018 survey found that the average American is commuting about 54 minutes round trip for work. By the time you add family, errands, and activities in, you may be in the car for 10+ hours per week! You can make a lot of mess in your car; especially if you need to pick up food or stop at a convenience store in between activities. Of course, you probably aren’t in your car nearly as much these days. However, everything must be clean. Read on for some tips from DealDash.
Banish the Trash
Trash is your biggest enemy. Nothing makes your car into a nightmare more than having random bags, bottles, and cans everywhere. So, you should start by emptying the trash. When I do this, I’m amazed at how many papers have found their way to the car floor. I typically start by bringing a trash can out to my car to make things easier. After you’ve cleaned out the trash, keep a grocery store bag in your car to avoid having the same problem in the future.
Give Your Car a Fresh Scent
Make your car smell clean. Over time, especially during the winter, your car can develop some unpleasant odors. After you’ve gotten the clutter out, focus on that stagnant air. I typically start by vacuuming to get the smells out of your fabric. Next, use some Febreeze or Lysol spray to get rid of the odors that are still trapped in there. Finally, I add an air freshener to really make it smell nice. You can use the “old school” models that look like a tree, but I prefer the vent clip-ons. I think they’re more effective and your AC can really blow the fragrance around.
Focus on the Windows
If you’re still feeling a little dingy, consider grabbing a spray bottle of some type of glass cleaner. You can use this on your dash, your windows, and the windshield. It will make your car sparkle and you don’t need to worry about having a bunch of different chemicals for each part of your car.
