Activated charcoal has many uses for your body as well as household uses. Here are just a few from DealDash.

Are you familiar with activated charcoal? It’s not the type of charcoal you use to barbecue. This charcoal is a special type has been used for hundreds of years for uses such as reducing odors, water purification, and poison control. Here is some great information about activated charcoal from DealDash.

How is Activated Charcoal Made?

Activated charcoal is made by burning items such as wood or coconut shells to a char. Then, it is further heated to extreme temperatures along with certain gases to make the surface area of charcoal more porous.

How Does Activated Charcoal Work?

Since the activated charcoal is so porous it means it can absorb material over 1,000 times its weight. Isn’t that amazing? There are not many materials on Earth that can make that claim.

Activated charcoal doesn’t absorb things like a sponge. It acts more like a negatively charged magnet attracting positively charged compounds (think free radicals) to stick to its outsides and then sweeps it out of your system.

How Can You Use Activated Charcoal?

As a Tooth Whitener

Activated charcoal is non-abrasive but great at sweeping away plaque and stains on the teeth. Thus, activated charcoal will leave you with a brighter smile. You can use it alone or mix it with other ingredients like baking soda, coconut oil, or even clay to cleanse your teeth.

As a Purifying and Cleansing Face Mask

Since activated charcoal has such strong absorption properties, it’s great for the skin. Activated charcoal can pull out dirt and oils, leaving you with a fresh, clean face. You can mix activated charcoal with a bit of water to make a simple paste. You can also add ingredients such as aloe for a more soothing effect on the skin or bentonite clay for even more ‘pull’ of toxins from your skin.

There are just a couple of ways that you can use the amazing properties of activated charcoal. There are many other ways to use activated charcoal on your body or even around the house.
