DealDash Helps: Boost Productivity

Boosting productivity can take some effort but is worth it in the end. Here are some tips and ideas from DealDash to get started.

You may or may not be thinking of your productivity during your day, but believe me, it will help. Boosting your productivity can not only make your work, chores, and other tasks go more smoothly, but it can also make your day go more smoothly and take a little bit of stress away. When you first strive to boost your productivity you might run into a few roadblocks. Don’t worry, DealDash is here to help guide you. Read on for more information.

Prepare for the Week Ahead

Most people take it easy on the weekends and do as little as possible unless it’s fun. This makes for a great weekend but a harder work week. If you just take a few hours out of your weekend to prepare for the week ahead then you will enjoy the work week a little more than before.

For example, many people like to do meal prep in advance. This can take a few hours, depending on what you are preparing. However, if you can prepare food for your weekdays so you don’t have to do it after work you will have such a better week. I recommend that you make a few pans of lasagna on the weekend. You can cut them into single serve portions and freeze them. Whenever you want some delicious homemade lasagna all you have to do is reheat it in the microwave or toaster oven. There are many other meals that you can prepare on the weekend that will make your dinners during the week a lot easier.

Lists, Lists, and More Lists

I will admit, I am a HUGE fan of lists. I love to make all types of lists: to-do, grocery,  ideas, anything! Making lists can help you learn how to prioritize things. If you make a list of all of the things that you should get done today, then put them in order of importance. Once you get the important things done then you can work on the less-important things. Lists are important because they can help you plan things out to be more productive than you would be by just thinking of what you need to do.

Put Down the Phone

One of the biggest offenders in stealing your productivity is your phone. All of the text alerts, notifications from apps, FaceBook alerts, and everything else makes you pick up your phone far too often when you are trying to get things done. If you have made a list like I suggested previously, and are checking things off as you go, then you can reward yourself with phone time after you have completed the most important items. Until you have your items completed, then your phone needs to stay out of sight. Trust me, it’s hard at first, but you’ll get used to it, and complete your tasks even faster.

DealDash Helps Refine Your Focus

DealDash Focus

There are so many distractions in the world today, it’s hard to keep and refine your focus. Here are some tips from DealDash to help.

As an adult with ADHD, I am an expert at becoming distracted. This is fairly common for people who don’t have ADHD as well, there are so many distractions today, from your phone’s notifications to text messages, and everything else. If you are someone who has trouble concentrating like myself, you probably have come up with some coping mechanisms already. If you haven’t, though, here are some ideas to help you refine your focus.

DealDash fidget spinner

Fidget Spinners

Have you seen the newest and hottest toy that every kid at the bus stop wants to have? Fidget spinners are HOT with the school crowd, but they can actually be helpful for adults with focus problems, as well. Fidget spinners were actually invented way back in the 1990s but didn’t gain popularity until the past year or so. They are typically made of hard plastic and have metal bearings in them that help them spin in your hands. They can help you channel your focus by playing with them for a few minutes when things get too overwhelming. After you’ve had a short break with a fidget spinner you can return to your task with a fresh mind.

Meditation can be as simple as sitting quietly by yourself, or more involved with candles, dim lights, and soft music. The purpose of meditation is to sit quietly and think deeply about a certain subject in order to gain clarity or focus. The end-game of meditation is to be able to clear your mind of the thoughts that are bothering or nagging you. If you’re having trouble with your focus, then meditation might be a great help for you to gain focus on your goals, tasks, and ambitions.

Exercise can be a great tool to help you gain focus. When you are committed to an exercise program it can flow through into other parts of your life and help you with your focus. Exercise has many great mental perks as well as physical ones. If you have a problem that is bothering you and you go for a long walk or run, you might be able to work out some solutions during your time of solitude. When you think about it that way, exercise is kind of like meditation while you’re moving.

DealDash Does March Chores

March Chores DealDash

Since we’re headed into spring there are chores that need to be done around the house. Here are some chores that you should be doing in March.

Being a homeowner is a lot of work! There are many chores and tasks that need to be done every season to keep your home and yard looking pristine and beautiful. Here are the items that you should be checking off of your chore list for March from DealDash.

Clean the Siding

If you have vinyl siding it can get dirty, dusty, and generally grimy. These things can fester on your siding and lead to mildew. Ew! March is the time to clean off that siding and make everything look fresh and clean for the Spring. Using a power washer is best, and you can get one from DealDash! You can also use a hose and a long-handled scrub brush, but believe me when I say that the power washer is the way to go.

Clean Out the Gutters

Spring and Fall are the times that you should be cleaning out your gutters. Now that it’s March it’s a great time to get working on that chore to get it out of the way. Be sure to remove leaves and other foliage debris that have accumulated over the winter. You wouldn’t want your gutters to overflow when the Spring showers start happening. Overflowing gutters and blocked downspouts can damage your home and cause mold and mildew.

Fix Up Your Lawn and Garden

As the temperatures rise it’s time to take care of your lawn and garden. Start by removing branches that have fallen during the winter and planted themselves on your lawn. Check for wayward stones, then use your lawn mower with a catch bag to gather up the dead leaves and twigs.

How’s your rose garden? For beautiful rose blooms, most landscaping gurus will tell you to prune your rose bushes just before the plant breaks dormancy and after the final frost. This takes place in mid-March for much of the country. Ask your local garden center if you’re not sure.

Doing Fall Chores with DealDash

Image result for fall chores

Everyone thinks to do the obvious fall chores such as leaf-raking and gutter-cleaning, but what about the lesser thought of chores…

Now that we are very firmly planted into fall, it’s time to do a few different chores inside and outside the house to prepare for winter. There are the obvious fall chores that we usually think of, but there are lots of other chores that might just slip your mind until it’s too late in the season to do them. Here is a quick list of some of the lesser thought of fall chores that you might want to incorporate into your house and yard work this coming weekend.

  • Insect spraying. Before the weather turns cold and the buggies try to make their way inside your home, give your house a good spraying around the perimeter. There are some excellent insecticides that come with their own sprayer and just need to be pumped manually. Spray the entire outside, and concentrate around the doorways and windows. You can get these great insecticides from any big box store near you.
  • Sweep (or use your leaf blower!) to clean out your basement and garage. The dirt from summer, and those pesky fall leaves just seem to make their way in no matter how careful you are. Get them out and have a nice fresh and clean slate for the snow, ice, and salt to be tracked in. It’s a never-ending chore, but at least you might be able to keep it clean for a little while until the season changes into winter.
  • Clean your windows, inside and out. Now is the time to clean off those grimy windows. Clean them inside and out, before it gets too cold to be able to open them up to clean the outsides. You can use windex, or even a 1/2 water, 1/2 white vinegar solution to get them sparkling clean.
  • Swap out your summer clothing for your winter clothing. Be sure to store your out-of-season clothing in plastic totes if you are going to be keeping them in the basement, garage, or attic. This will keep them safe from moisture and other unsavory elements.

I hope that you have found this article helpful to get you started on your fall chores. If you need any products that were mentioned in the article such as plastic totes, a leaf blower, or even a gift card to a big box store DealDash has them for you.
