DealDash Gets You Organized for Holiday Visits
The holidays are here and many families are choosing to spend the holidays together this year. For some, this is the first time seeing each other in more than 18 months. It’s time to get organized for holiday visits.
It’s the time of year where all we want to do is get cozy and spend quality time with our loved ones. But before you can do that, there are many tasks that need to be completed beforehand – like getting organized for the holidays. In this blog post, we will outline how to get organized for the holiday season so that you’ll have more free time to enjoy it! Read on for some insightful information, from DealDash.
Holiday Organizing – Let’s Get Started
It’s the most wonderful time of year and you’re just not sure where to start getting organized! The living room? Cleaning out old toys from under the couch? Or maybe your kitchen- who has space for everything that goes into it?!
Well never fear, because I’ve got some great tips about how to create organized spaces in every area throughout your home for the holidays. So the very first thing that you will want to do is to make a list of all of the places that you want to organize.
Kitchen
The place that always tops my list is the kitchen. Your kitchen is an important place to spend time with family for holiday visits, and it should always be neat! When everything has its “home” you’ll have more room for activities. If your cabinets are bursting at the seams, consider using labeled drawers or bins instead of cluttering up shelves in hopes things will stay organized. This works well if not all available cabinet space can accommodate what needs storing; just make sure whatever containers go into them also match (eighty percent occupancy rate, if possible).
The key when organizing any area where there isn’t enough real estate on hand: think about which items typically gather dust while still being accessible but out-of-sight until needed–then put those first so they’re ready whenever someone needs them.
Guest Room
Next, with all of the restrictions for the past 18 months or so, you probably haven’t had many visitors. This means that your guest room is probably feeling a little stale and unused. However, a little bit of freshening and organizing can really spruce it up in case you are having holiday visits this year.
The best way to start is by removing everything except for the big pieces of furniture from the room. Next, continue by giving what’s left a good clean. Once that’s done, you can begin putting things back in an order that works for you, wiping and dusting and tossing trash along the way. I like to have an area for clothes, another for guest’s luggage and yet another for storage (such as suitcases or boxes). This leaves the bed free for sleeping and not for storage.
If you have the space in your guest room, I would also suggest adding a small desk if possible. This way your guest will have space to put their electronics to charge, keep their purse/wallet/keys, etc. It will also come in handy if your guest likes to do any journaling, reading, or needs to spend a little time working while on holiday.
