DealDash Kids: Tips to Make the Most of the School Year

DEALDASH BACK TO SCHOOL

By this time your child should have already started school or will be starting next week. Here are some tips to help them make the most of the school year.

It’s important for kids of all ages to have a great school year. However, sometimes it is very difficult for younger kids to have a great school year. These kids are complete “newbies” at knowing what to expect from school. Here are some tips to help younger kids get settled and more familiar with what they should do to help themselves have a fun and educational school year. Read on for more information from DealDash.

It’s Okay to Not Know Anyone

Remember, a stranger is “just a friend we haven’t met yet.” If this is your child’s first year at school or if they just don’t know anyone in their class this year, then this is an important thing to tell them. If they don’t know anyone in their classroom this year, that just means that they have even more of a chance to meet their new BFF.

Just Be Yourself

Kids as young as 5 will be in classes this year, and surprisingly even kids this age are worried about fitting in. I have 2 school-aged kids and volunteer in their elementary school. Sadly, I have heard many comments from very young kids that they are worried that people won’t like them. They are worried about the clothing that they are wearing and not having as many toys and gadgets as their classmates. It important to help your kids realize that the superficial stuff isn’t going to help your kids make true friends. and that a real friend will like you no matter what brand of shoes that you are wearing.

Don’t Be Afraid to Be Smart

Try to impart to your kids that being smart is a good thing. They might see things on TV or online showing smart kids to be “nerdy” or “uncool”. However, the kids who listen and do well in school get to do their dream jobs when they are older. No matter if they want to be an astronaut, a paleontologist, or a veterinarian, all of these careers require a lot of brains and doing well in school. This all comes back to just being yourself. Tell them to be curious, pay attention, and do well in school to be able to grow up and do their dream job.
