DealDash Beats Loneliness for At-Home Parents

DealDash

Are you a stay-at-home mom or dad? Here are some tips to beat the loneliness, from DealDash.

When you are a stay at home parent it can get a little lonely. Typically, this is because you are missing out on a lot of adult interaction. The great news is that there are several things that you can do in order to be a little less lonely as a stay-at-home parent.

Limit Your Screen Time

One thing that you can do in order to not feel as lonely is to put your cell phone away. You may be tempted to go on social media to see what your friends are up to but this doesn’t replace actual human interaction. You want to actually pick up the phone and call one of your friends to see what they are up to as it can really help you feel a little less lonely. Not only that, it’s so easy to waste the entire day “Just checking FaceBook for a minute”. This isn’t fair to your kids or to yourself. Call up a friend who has a child and have a playdate!

Keep Up on Your Reading

If you have the opportunity you should read a book. While this may be somewhat difficult with more than one child if you are able to read even for a little bit it is a great way to pass the time. Losing yourself for a while in a good book is a wonderful way to get rid of some of the stress of being on your own while your spouse is at work. If your kids are young enough to still take a nap, use that time to catch up on a good book. If your kids are too old for naps, great! That means that they should be able to play on their own for 30 minutes so you can read for just a little while.

Keep In Touch

You can also choose to keep in touch with your partner during the day. Even if it is just a few short texts you will feel a lot better having that needed contact with your partner. Talk with your partner to see what kind of contact you could have during the time that they are gone so you know that it will work for both of you. Don’t despair if they don’t have time during the workday to talk or text with you, though. Try texting your siblings or a friend instead.
