If you aren’t permitted to have pets where you live then an easy and cheap solution is a betta fish. You can get a betta fish, its habitat, and some food for less than $20 at your local pet store. Watching a fish swim can be very relaxing. No pets? No problem! You can spend time at your local animal rescue/Humane Society volunteering a few hours per week. This is a win-win situation for both you and the animals that you are helping.

You can also ease anxiety by reading a book. Some people might be able to use a textbook or a non-fiction book to relax, but personally I love to read a good novel to escape the world. Try to find something lighthearted and engaging for the best anxiety relieving benefits.

Lastly, another wonderful way to ease anxiety is coloring. Adult coloring books have become quite trendy as of late, you can get them anywhere from your local big box store, a bookstore, or even the craft store. You can color by yourself, or if you have kids or grandkids you can all color together. It’s a great way to ease your anxiety and spend some quality time with your family as well.
