Luckily for you, this might not be your only option. To add a bit of shine on your windows, you can use some products that you already have in your home. You will find that your work will be easier and you will also save money.
Ammonia, for Long-Term Cleaning
If you want your windows to stay clean for an extended period of time, try mixing ammonia with a dishwashing product (like Dawn!); this creates a protective layer on your window. Put some water in a pot or bucket and add a cup of ammonia and a cup of dishwashing solution. Mix them together and then clean the windows with a soft cloth that you have dunked in the solution.
Rubbing Alcohol Eliminates the Fingerprints
Fingerprints disappear if the window is cleaned with rubbing alcohol. How do you accomplish this? Dilute the rubbing alcohol in some water then add a few drops of essential oils to create a pleasant smell in your room. Try lavender, lemon, or eucalyptus. After you have cleaned the window, you will not need to rinse.
Potatoes Remove Stubborn Stains
You’re not going to believe this one! When you have dirty windows with old caked on spots and stains, try to eliminate them using a slice of raw potato. Rub the spot and wait 5-10 minutes until the spots start to dry. Clean them with a mix of rubbing alcohol and water after the area has dried.
Try Vinegar for Mineral Deposits on Windows
The windows that are close to the sink in your kitchen or your bathroom can get dirty with spots of mineral deposits from the splashed water. Don’t worry because white vinegar is your best friend in this case. Dilute some white vinegar in water. Spray the solution on your window and clean it with a soft cloth.
Salt Eliminates the Matte Film
Many windows, especially those in your kitchen, have a matte appearance. This is because of the film made up of dirt, steam or oil spots. These spots can be cleaned when you use kitchen salt. Dissolve it in white vinegar and water then rub your windows with a sponge.
Baking Soda Eliminates Paint Spots
Have you re-painted and weren’t extra careful? If your window has paint spots that have become hardened after some time, you can use a solution of 1/2 a cup of hot water and a Tablespoon of baking soda. Soak a cloth in this solution and rub it on the paint spot until it disappears. You might have to scrub a little.
