DealDash Talks Fiber
Adults and children alike all need fiber. DealDash wants to know – are you getting enough fiber in your diet?
Most people know that fiber is an essential part of a healthy diet. It improves your digestion, boosts your immune system, and can also help lower bad cholesterol. These things are all great for a healthy body and mind. Did you know that the recommended daily intake for dietary fiber is 25 grams per day for women and 38 grams per day for men? This doesn’t really seem like an extraordinary amount of fiber, however, only about 5% of Americans meet this daily suggestion. DealDash is here to offer you ways to improve your fiber intake.
Start Your Day Off Right
Breakfast is the perfect way to start off your day with a few servings of fiber. It’s easy to get extra fiber at breakfast, simply include whole grains as well as fruits and vegetables into your meal. Whole grains provide much more fiber than their white bread counterparts. They are also more healthy in general for your body. There are many different whole grain sources to use such as wheat, bran, barley, oats, and buckwheat. These whole grains have some of the highest fiber content. Do you enjoy toast or bagel in the morning? Just swap out your white bread or white bagel to a whole grain variety and you’ll be well on your way to extra fiber in your day.

Fiber for Lunch
What do you enjoy eating for lunch? If your answer is a sandwich, you’re in luck! You can eat the exact same sandwich, just swap out the white bread for whole grain. It will taste almost exactly the same, except you will be treating yourself to extra fiber.
If you’re more of a salad person for lunch, that’s even better. Pile on the veggies, and enjoy the benefits of the extra fiber. For some delicious added fiber, try slicing up half an avocado onto your salad. It will taste even better, and give you an extra serving of fiber.
Dinner Time is Fiber Time
Dinner is an excellent chance to sneak in your remaining fiber for the day. No matter what you are serving for dinner, just remember the simple rules.
- Add lots of veggies to your meal
- Have fruit for dessert
- Swap out any white bread or pasta for their whole grain counterparts
