As adults it seems like the moment that a friend says or does something that you don’t like you unfriend them on Facebook, block them on your phone, and move on with your life. However, kids rarely seem to think that way. A child can say something mean to their friend at school, or even get into a fistfight, yet the next day they are friends again. How do they do this?
How do they do this? Children have a large capacity for forgiveness. It’s not wise to forgive someone when they disappoint you over and over again, but if a friend makes a mistake here and there, try to forgive them and move on from the problem.
Excitement About Little Things
Children frequently get excited about the smallest things such as a trip to the playground, a kid’s meal for dinner, or stickers. However, most adults are harder to excite, and there are some adults who seem to never get excited about anything. Life is definitely more pleasant when there is excitement and a sense of wonder about the world around us.
Anticipation
Going hand-in-hand with excitement about the little things is anticipation about things in the future. Children look forward to and anticipate many things such as an outing on the weekend or a visit from Grandma. And don’t forget the many holidays that we have throughout the year. Sometimes the week is a little tough for adults to get through. Having something to look forward to can really help you get through the rough spots in the day.
