There are even some pet-hotels that function as a bed and breakfast for people and a kennel for dogs. It ensures your pet will get some socialization while you’re gone.
Make Sure Your House is Prepared
Make sure your house is taken care of while you’re gone. Do you need to set up the sprinkler system? Maybe you can have a neighbor come over to water your garden instead. You may also want to consider the mail if you’re going to be gone for a week or so. If you don’t have a neighbor that can help you out, you can call the post office to tell them to hold your mail while you’re gone.
Another key preparation that I like to make is setting an automation schedule inside the house. With today’s technology, I like to set my thermostat in cycles. I turn the heat/ac on so that at night it can be a bit cooler and during the day, it’s typically a bit warmer. If you’d rather just turn your thermostat down while you’re gone, that’s fine as well. In the same thought, we have automated lights. I set a schedule so that the lights turn on and off by themselves. It seems a bit crazy, but it offers us some peace of mind knowing that it’s a little less obvious that we’re gone. Think of the movie Home Alone!
