DealDash Kids: Struggling With Schoolwork?

DealDash

Homeschooling is very challenging – especially if you weren’t prepared. Help your child if they’re struggling with these tips from DealDash.

Let’s face it, very few parents who are now homeschooling their children were prepared for it. In fact, many kids who are normally excellent students are now struggling with their assignments at home. Here are a few things that you can do as a parent to help make schoolwork go a little easier for your child, from DealDash.

Use Their Teacher’s Office Hours and Email

Firstly, you can talk to your child’s teacher, most teachers have set “office hours” when they can be contacted online. If your child’s teacher doesn’t have set office hours, be sure to email them. Let them know if your child is having difficulty with the schoolwork that has been assigned.

If your child is typically a good student but is struggling, it’s possible that the work just wasn’t explained properly. It can be very difficult to understand the directions if they are given during a conference call with the whole class. There are too many distractions. Email your child’s teacher, I’m sure they will be happy to help.

Spread Breaks Throughout the Day

Next, if your child has a lot of schoolwork to do during the day, be sure they are taking regular breaks. A good rule of thumb is 45 minutes of classwork, and then a 15-minute break, with a longer 30-minute break for lunch. Let your child do what they want for their breaks, but try to encourage going outside for some fresh air in your yard or having a healthy snack such as some cut up fruit, cheese, hummus, etc.

Set Up a Prize Box – Let DealDash Help!

Finally, set up a prize box with some prizes that you know your kids will love. For each day they do their schoolwork give them a “ticket”. When they receive 20 tickets they can get a prize! You might also give out tickets for extra credit such as reading a chapter of a book, playing a math game on the computer, or anything else you can think of to encourage their learning.

DealDash is the perfect place to get prizes to put in your homeschooling prize box. You will find Legos, stuffed animals, and other toys.
