However, there are so many useful tasks for baking soda that it’s hard to imagine using it for just baking! In fact, I have rarely used baking soda in baking, but rather numerous uses around the house. Read on for some handy tips and tricks to using baking soda from DealDash.

Dry Dog Shampoo

If your dog is getting a little smelly but hates taking a bath, baking soda could be the tool you need for doggie to succeed. Since baking soda is completely safe and non-toxic it makes a great dry dog shampoo. All you have to do is sprinkle the baking soda on your dog, rub it in thoroughly, and then brush it out.

  • Pro Tip 1 – Do this outside, it can be messy
  • Pro Tip 2 – Put the baking soda in an old container that was meant for sprinkling dry substances, such as an old cleaned out parmesan cheese container or even a powdered sugar container.

Get the Smells Out of Books

Do you have any old books that are musty or smokey smelling? No worries, DealDash is here with a solution for you. Try baking soda! Just sprinkle baking soda on the pages, stick it in a bag, and put it in the freezer. A few days later take it outside and open it up. Shake out the book, and viola! No more smell.

Use as a Mouthwash or Toothpaste

Use can use baking soda as a toothpaste by simply wetting your brush, dipping it in the baking soda, and then brushing your teeth. If you prefer the minty freshness of actual toothpaste, then you can put your normal toothpaste on and then just sprinkle a little bit of baking soda on the top for a toothpaste booster.

Low on mouthwash? No problem. Baking soda is your answer. Simply take a small glass of water and mix in 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Use like a regular mouthwash. It neutralizes odors and will make your mouth feel fresh.

Clean Your Hairbrushes and Combs

Let’s face it, combs and especially hairbrushes can get dirty over time. You can clean them easily with baking soda, it will naturally remove oils, build up, and residue. Just put a teaspoon of baking soda into a cup, and stick your hairbrush or comb in. Let it soak for a bit, and then rinse off and dry. Presto, sparkling clean!
