Hit Up the Local Park
You could go to a local park. There are many things that you can do at the park like take a walk, fly a kite or even have a picnic. Most all parks you can get into for free or for a nominal fee, such as a parking fee. It would be a great way to spend time together while enjoying all that nature has to offer you. You could even plan to visit several different parks and make a scrapbook of your adventures.
Some parks even have hiking trails that you can use, as well as lakes. There are so many things that you can do there such as fishing, kayaking, and even just skipping stones on the water. All of this fun, for free!
Arts and Crafts on the Cheap
You could do some simple arts and crafts. For example, you could find some rocks outside and paint them. You could also help your kids make a card to brighten up the day of a friend or family member. The possibilities are really endless here so you are just limited by your imagination. You can find a lot of great art supplies at your local dollar store. If you have some of the bigger craft stores in your town most of them have 20-40% off coupons available every week. Just check their website before you go shopping.
You Don’t Have to go Far from Home
You could simply spend time outside in your yard. Also, you could blow bubbles or plan a treasure hunt. You could also catch fireflies at night – there are so many different possibilities here. Again, you will have a great chance to spend time with your kids while getting everyone outside to have fun. And the best news is you can likely find something to do outside that will cost you little to no money, such as having a backyard campout or planting flowers.
