For example, if your child is a fan of last night’s dinner think about how you can attractively pack leftovers for them. Also, stock up when you are able on your child’s favorite foods that you can include in their lunch.

For example, my daughter absolutely loves salad. Today I chopped up 2 heads of lettuce, washed it, and now it’s waiting to be portioned out each day for her lunch. After I add in tomatoes, cucumbers, and a little container of dressing I will spend about .50 per salad. That’s a great bargain compared to how much it would be to purchase a salad from school each day!

Packing a great school lunch is not always about the food. You can use preparing their lunch as a bonding experience. Leave them encouraging notes or funny pictures, or just about anything that will help you connect with your child while you are apart.
