Next, you need to consider your child’s lifestyle and well as the family’s lifestyle when you are considering a dog.  You need to make sure that your child will have enough time to care for and play with their new dog. If you are a really busy family you also need to keep that in consideration. Do you travel a lot? It could be a problem unless there are some times where you will be able to take your child’s dog with you. 

Does a Dog Fit the Budget?

You also need to be able to afford a dog for your child. Dogs can be expensive when you think of the food, toys and even veterinarian bills. You need to be sure having a dog is going to fit into your family budget. Nothing would be worse than to have your child get attached to a dog only to have to get rid of them because you cannot afford them.
