DealDash Helps: Avoid Overeating on Thanksgiving

DealDash

Everyone loves Thanksgiving dinner, some of us a little too much. Here are some tips from DealDash to avoid overeating on the big day.

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to give thanks and eat great food with your family and friends. Although Thanksgiving is a great time to fellowship and eat delicious meals, some people tend to overeat. For most people, Thanksgiving food can trigger a downward spiral when it comes to eating healthy. It is hard to lose the weight that you have gained during the holidays. Luckily, there are some ways to avoid overeating on Thanksgiving. Read on for more information from DealDash.

 Don’t Skip Any Meals

A lot of people believe in only eating Thanksgiving dinner and no other meals that day. Skipping meals can make you hungrier and will cause you to overeat. If you want to eat lightly, try having some fruit or eggs for breakfast, and a salad for lunch. As long as you have something in your stomach until Thanksgiving dinner, you will not be overly hungry. Many families choose to eat Thanksgiving dinner on the earlier side, anyway. 3:00 PM is a very popular time for people to eat Thanksgiving dinner.

 Keep Yourself Hydrated

Staying hydrated will help you not overeat on Thanksgiving. Sometimes our body mistakes thirst for hunger. Drinking water and herbal tea will take up space inside your stomach, and you will feel full sooner. Not only will you feel fuller sooner, but water and herbal tea are also good for your health. Just be sure not to add too much (or any!) sugar to your tea. This can defeat the purpose of trying to eat lightly on the morning of Thanksgiving.

 Stay Active

Create a new family tradition of going for a walk, playing football, or outside games before Thanksgiving dinner. This can replace the tradition of watching TV all day. Staying active will help you burn more calories and suppress your appetite. If you are at a holiday party, try dancing, standing up, or asking if the host needs help with any small tasks that can get you moving.

Control Your Portions with Smaller Plates

You can trick your body into thinking that you have eaten a lot by using a smaller plate. Using a smaller plate will help you enjoy the food that you want to eat while watching your portions. Switching to a dish that is 10 inches instead of 12 inches will help you eat less food. It is important to not go back for seconds if you want this trick to work.
