A Little More Fit with DealDash
No more excuses! No matter if you’re older, overweight, or have zero free time it’s time to get a little more fit. You don’t need a lot of equipment or money to get started. Let’s make a plan…
The very first thing that you are going to need to do before you start your new fitness program is to visit your primary care doctor and get a check-up. While you are there making sure that you are healthy enough to start an exercise program you can also talk to your doctor about setting reasonable fitness goals for yourself. Not everyone’s goal needs to lose enough weight to be able to fit into a size 2. Your personal fitness goals might be to gain strength or just to be able to walk a mile without resting. Talk to your doctor and see what he or she recommends for you.
After you have seen your doctor it’s time to figure out how to achieve your personal fitness goals. Here are a few tips for just about anyone no matter what your fitness goals are:
- Drink more water. The rule of thumb is 8 ounces of water 8 times per day. It’s called the 8X8 rule, and it’s easy to remember. However, if you would prefer a personalized water consumption guide I have also read that if you take your weight and divide it by 2 that is the correct number of ounces of water per day that you should be drinking. For example, if you weigh 160 pounds you should be drinking 160/2=80 ounces of water per day.
- Take a walk. It doesn’t have to be a long, fast, or strenuous walk. An idle walk around the neighborhood with your dog, child, grandchild, spouse, or by yourself can only help your fitness levels improve. If you strive to take even a short walk every night after dinner you will improve your fitness level faster than you might think.
- Stop eating fried food (at least at home). Toss out your unhealthy oils at home and stock up on olive oil and avocado oil. Saute your foods in an oil substitute spray like PAM. If you must eat fried food keep it to when you go out to dinner on a weekend.
