You want the best for your kids. Follow these tips from DealDash for teaching your kids healthy habits.

Let’s face it, getting your child to eat healthily can be a battle. You need to make sure that your kids learn early that eating healthy is good for them as it will help them become healthier adults. Exercise can also be a sore subject with kids. It may be a battle but it is one that every parent should undertake. Here are some tips to keep in mind from DealDash when you are looking to make sure that your kids develop healthy habits.

Limit Their Sugar

When it comes to sugar you should limit the amount of sugar and sugar substitutes that you allow in your child’s diet. Sugars like white sugar, honey, and brown sugar can all cause cavities in addition to adding unneeded calories to your child’s diet. While sugar substitutes do not contribute to tooth decay they really have zero nutritional value. Since they are generally sweeter in taste than sugars they really only help to contribute to the desire for sweets making it more difficult to introduce vegetables and fruits.

The More Water the Better

When it comes to what your child is drinking serve up plenty of water. You might think that fruit juice is healthy for them but juices are actually quite high in sugar. If you wish to add fruit to their diet give them actual fruit which can help add fiber to their diet. If they are thirsty then give them water. Just be sure that they don’t consume too much to drink as that can cut their desire to want to eat.

Exercise as a Family

If you want your kids to exercise, then do it as a family. Find an activity for the whole family that incorporates exercise. Maybe the kids want to play tag or kick a ball around or play a little basketball. If exercising isn’t really your family’s favorite, then try to at least take a walk around the neighborhood daily. Exercising with your kids encourages healthy habits and can be fun for everyone.
