If you have a child or grandchild who is a toddler you know that sometimes they are hard to please. Here are some fun games that you can enjoy together.
Spending time interacting with your small child in the form of play is very important. It’s hard to set aside time from work, chores, and other things that adults need to get done in a day, but make playing with your toddler a priority every day, even if it’s only for 15 minutes. It’s good for both of you. Here are a few simple games and activities that will entertain your toddler and won’t break the bank.
Phoning it in – Charge up a couple of your old outdated cell phones and hand a phone to your child and keep one for yourself. Pretend to make calls, and hold conversations with each other or other relatives that aren’t home at the time. For older toddlers show them how to take pictures with the camera feature, and enjoy all of the wacky pictures that they will end up taking.
Cheerio Counting – Kids all seem to love Cheerios. Why not teach them how to count to 3, 5, or even 10 with the Cheerios? You can even teach simple math to older toddlers, i.e “I have 3 Cheerios, and I eat 1, how many do I still have? Count them! 1, 2!”
Paper Towel Tubes – Paper towel tubes are fun! You can pretend that they are a telescope and play pirates, you can get two and use them as drumsticks to play a song, or for extra fun you can each take a tube and talk to each other through it, making silly sounds and voices. Give it a try.
Playing House or Fort – If you have gotten a large auction win from DealDash that came in a large box, how about taking the time to cut out an entrance and an exit, and encourage your child to go in and out. Pairing that with some pretend play, such as knocking on the door or ringing the doorbell, and asking if anyone is home is sure to delight your little one.
